Remember when the NRA was better known for ensuring the public trust in firearm responsibility and not ensuring that any dumb, crazy fucker can have access to a weapon?

INSANITY IS NOT A PLEA. IT'S A WAY OF LIFE.
Some hearty knaves and simple fools,
Some apish and pragmatic mules,
Some servile acquiescing fools,
These, these comprise a congress.
When Jove resolved to send a curse,
And all the woes of life rehearse,
Not plague, not famine, but much worse,
He cursed us with a congress.

Really? Seemed like he was president forever.

I think it happened the day, whenever that was, when the NRA decided they could influence politics - when they decided they could grade each and every political figure, whether or not he/she actually held political office - when they decided that the politics of gun control was more important than gun safety - when they decided that a 50 caliber sniper rifle was the same as a Daisy BB gun. That was when they lost vision of their core mission.
[Romney's] vision of humanity is just a million tons of meat floating around in a sea of base calculations. He’s like a teenager who stays up all night thinking of a way to impress the prom queen, and what he comes up with is kicking a kid in a wheelchair. Instincts like those are probably what made him a great leveraged buyout specialist, but in a public figure? Man, is he a disaster. It’s really incredible theater, watching the Republicans talk themselves into this guy.-- Matt Taibbi
I always thought it was Heston. Wasn't he the first that became really radical?
