OK! New Game Thread! Change A Letter Plus!

Like the old Change-A-Letter to make a new word game, you start with a four letter word and may change any letter to change the word. The Plus part is that you may add a letter to the word as long as you remove a letter from it. Examples - Ship can be changed to Shop or Hips or Snip, but not Spin as that would require two changes at the same time. Only letter may actually be changed in any turn.

sorry I'm confused. I moved the first letter to the last and changed e to y. I relocated one and changed one.

Right. You can only change one letter, by any means available, and must have a four letter word when you are done. Changing a letter position and another letter is two changes.

Scat can become Cats or Spat or Cart or Seat, but not Crate (5 letters) or Slap (2 letters changed) or Cans (another two letter change). Only one change per word per turn.

I understand the others but cart? you deleted one letter (s) and added one elsewhere(r). Is that not 2 changes?

Scat => Cat => Cart
S is deleted and R is added. Three original letters remain, one changed, deletions and insertions allowed. If you delete a letter you must add one somewhere to make the ending word four letters. Cannot finish three or five so must add a letter if you delete one. Change-a-letter deletes and adds a letter in the same place. Delete-and-add makes new letter location optional.

lack (does this work? You still have 3 original letters) Does 3 original letters retained work if their order is changed?
I guess lack would work even in the old game.

It works as long as only one letter is moved or changed.
