Supreme Court moves to center of presidential race

The Supreme Court, suddenly at the heart of presidential politics, is preparing what could be blockbuster rulings on health care and immigration shortly before the fall election.

Elections matter for just this reason. The next President will pick at least one and possibly three new justices. Their willingness to inject themselves into the political arena with rulings like Bush v. Gore, Citizens United, Arizona's 'Your Papers, Mein Herr' racist anti-immigration law, and now such laws as the Affordable Health Care Act, have and will continue to change the political landscape for the next generation.

More laws facing challenge are ALEC's Voter ID voting suppression laws and Michigan's Emergency Manager laws that strip entire communities of the right to be governed by elected officials and instead install 'City Managers' that can dismiss the city government wholesale and nullify all contracts with union employees.

The SCOTUS now leans 5-4 toward the NeoCons, voting over and over to support their agenda, and only rarely goes the other way in spite of taking affront at suggestions that their decisions could cause great harm to the democratic process. When Obama denounced Citizen's United as a way to open the floodgates of unrestrained and anonymous donations drowning out the voice of the public in future elections, Chief Justice Roberts was seen to mouth the words "Not true". But the Super Pacs have shown that Obama, not Roberts, had a clearer view of future events. This election will decide who's vision the country will follow as a whole.
A democratic one or one bought and paid for by fewer than 100 super rich 'Cons.

    We report. You decide.

Small correction... it was Alito. But Roberts was likely thinking the same.

The Supreme court chose a President, sold our country (elections) to the highest bidders and may choose who in this country can have health care. They have supreme power over everyone in this country. The only thing we can do is wait for them to die and pray someone better gets picked and approved?
I've been thinking about this a lot lately. Should we allow a handful of people to control every law in this country with no recourse? I think it's time to rethink the Supreme court. I think the citizens of this country should have the ability to impeach Supreme Court Justices when their actions call for it. JMHOClick here to enlarge

Among other things, limit their terms, overlap the terms so that there are always three new ones and six old ones, nominated by Pres and voted on by citizens. Terms should be 20 years, maybe? One term only.

Some hearty knaves and simple fools,
    Some apish and pragmatic mules,
    Some servile acquiescing fools,
    These, these comprise a congress.

When Jove resolved to send a curse,
And all the woes of life rehearse,
Not plague, not famine, but much worse,
He cursed us with a congress.
