    Chris Mathhews 10/28/20 Hardball

His 3-person panel has predicted the next Senate Majority leader will be Dick Durbin, they believe Dems will retain majority, but Angle will beat Reid.

They said Feingold will lose, Paul will win, Toomey will win.

I believe Blunt (R-MO) will beat Carnahan.

The spineless bastard Reid deserves to lose. Angle will be very junior and probably be ignored by just about everyone. I would like to see Boxer as majority leader, but whatever. Sorry about Finegold, he's a fine senator. For Paul and Toomey, see Angle comment. And I'm really sorry about Carnahan. I think she would be good.

Some hearty knaves and simple fools,
    Some apish and pragmatic mules,
    Some servile acquiescing fools,
    These, these comprise a congress.

When Jove resolved to send a curse,
And all the woes of life rehearse,
Not plague, not famine, but much worse,
He cursed us with a congress.

    Well, that's just fucking depressing.

ALL Republlicans in the Senate of the next Congress will filibuster whatever they want. There will be no meaningful (meaningful to progressives) legislation passed with 51 Democrats +Ben Nelson + Red Joe even if the filibuster rule is eliminated. This is because meaningful legislation originated in the Senate will be defeated by Speaker Boehner and his henchmen, and there will be no meaningful legislation originated in the House.

Senate and House Republicans will be working toward one goal, and one goal only - to defeat Obama in 2011 & 2012!

And with Obama displaying unbelievable naivete, I believe there will be a Republican President in 2013 and a Republican majority in both the House and the Senate.

Face it - we progressives have lost.

    Rachel is now reporting that:

Angle, Toomey, and Paul are, as of today, building leads.

Manchin, Boxer, Bluenthal, are holding or building leads.

Coons is up over O'Donnell by 21 points.

No mention of Missouri, Wisconsin. But Feingokd is trailing.

    What I heard today:

Florida will go to Rubio unless Meeks withdraws and throws his support to Christ.

Alaska will probably go to Murkowski.

In Ohio, Dem Strickland is laggin behind Kasich.

We have lost. I have lost hope. My grieving has turned into acceptance. This is how it will be. Democrats have squandered the opportunities of the past two years.

Of course, all one need do is look at history to see this is not only expected, but normal for the first mid term.

Maybe so, but there's never been a slate of candidates that have been so extreme. I'm starting to think Ted Stevens was a blessing in disguise.
