Surely that should disqualify him in the mind of any progressive Democrat.

A couple of years ago, a Republican committee staff director told me candidly (and proudly) what the method was to all this obstruction and disruption. Should Republicans succeed in obstructing the Senate from doing its job, it would further lower Congress’s generic favorability rating among the American people. By sabotaging the reputation of an institution of government, the party that is programmatically against government would come out the relative winner.

At first I was thinking that Spectre was appealing to Repug voters... trying to get just enough Dem votes and just enough Repug votes... you know?

But then I thought - Wait a minute! This is just the primary! That doesn't work.

So... then I remember Xena's comment... Spectre will pull a Lieberman and run as an Independent...

Should Sestak win the primary, will the Democratic Party snub him - And the VOTERS!!! - (as they did in Connecticut with Ned Lamont)?

OR... will the Democratic Party respect the will of the voters and fully support the winner of the primary (even if the winner is Sestak)?

This really isn't a surprise. Specter was a Republican at the time. Why wouldn't he vote for McCain?
INSANITY IS NOT A PLEA. IT'S A WAY OF LIFE. Click here to enlarge

Some hearty knaves and simple fools,
    Some apish and pragmatic mules,
    Some servile acquiescing fools,
    These, these comprise a congress.

When Jove resolved to send a curse,
And all the woes of life rehearse,
Not plague, not famine, but much worse,
He cursed us with a congress.

^ got it in one. It woudl be like wondering why Johnny Damon voted for other Red Sox players for the All-Star game over Yankees players before he signed with the Yankees.
