Involving an indictment for Karl Rove and Dan Bartlett.
He just mentioned this as breaking news.
Keith mentioned it's on the Newsweek web site too.

White House anxiety is mounting over the prospect that top officials—including deputy chief of staff Karl Rove and counselor Dan Bartlett-may be forced to provide potentially awkward testimony in the perjury and obstruction trial of Lewis (Scooter) Libby.

Judy, Judy, Judy.

Man, oh man, did you hear what happened today?

It came out during Judy Miller's testimony that Cheney's office was the one that directed the CIA to send someone to Niger to check on the yellow cake story.

YES! This is a big deal.

Cheney will be pleading the Fifth when he is sworn in to testify, which is ironic if not sickening since he has ignored the Constitution for the past six years. So now, when his ass is on the line, he'll take the Fifth!

I don't see "indictment"...

I think Zemo meant subpoena when he said indictment, lil' lady.

Libby's defense team issued subpoenas for Rove and Bartlett to appear on his behalf last week. They were not listed on Libby's original list of witnesses.

They may not be called to testify, but they have been issued subpoenas putting them on "stand by" just in case Libby's lawyer calls them to testify.

Sorry Lil Lady and all you folks who were away from MSM monitors last weekend while this was going on.

Jesus, the wording in all what's going on with the Libby trial is very specific.
I admit my error in the indictment/subpoena mention last Friday.

But, if you follow the minute details of how the case is being presented, your head may explode before you get to the point where you can say "See, the bastards did it".
Today I'm reading about the Libby lunch date with Fleisher ( if that's spelled wrong sorry, I am pooped).
Also reading about Bartlett getting pissed about the press reporting in 2003 that Cheney sent Wilson to Niger, when he wants the story to be that Plame sent Wilson to Niger.

Once again, I'm sorry for any misunderstanding.
The story was breaking news on MSNBC last Friday and I probably was not operating with all my brain cells in alert mode at the time.

In fact I didn't even realize I had written that error until now.
Yes, I know the difference between an indictment and a subpoena.

Another night of thoughtful insight and analysis by Keith on the Libby trial. Russert's testimony totally contradicts Libby's sworn testimony.

One of the bombshells of the day - Libby and Cheney talked about what to do about Wilson's op-ed daily.

Daily.

There's no way Libby could have forgotten that he had talked to reporters about Valerie Plame being a covert CIA agent within 3 days of discussing it with his boss, the Vice-President.

Another bombshell - Libby's testimony that Vice-President Cheney stated that he will ask the President "for us to take this to the reporters."

What?

You mean Cheney knew about this?
Bush knew about this, too?

I thought Bush said he would fire anyone in the administration that was involved with leaking the secret identity of the covert CIA agent.

Man, that would be one empty White House, if that were true.

It would just be Laura and his dog at this point.

Probably just Barney when you get right down to it.

I could get behind Barney for President.

The prosecution rests its case!!

Wow, Russert was solid on his answers today. He didn't even fuckin' budge after being cross-examined. Yesterday Libby's lawyer grilled him like a cheese samwich for 2 hours and Russert was unshakeable.

Oh, there's no doubt about it now, Libby is guiltier than hell.

They had better get started on an appeal.
Yesterday some talking head on Hardball said that Libby would never do 30 years, just 2 or 3 years tops.

I don't think so.
The way this trial has been going, I don't think the judge is just going to give Scooter a "time out" and send him to his room for just 2 or 3 years. Not over a case like this.

Somewhere on AAR this week I heard someone's opinion that Libby would bite the bullet for Cheney and expect that pardon in the near future.
It's happened before folks.
