Actual proof that they don't know what a cheese steak is. The meat is beef. Frozen solid and sliced very thin with a razor sharp spinning blade, then grilled for about five minutes with onions. The cheese is usually but not always melted velveeta. Down in Chester and Claymont we use regular american cheese sliced off the block, not that cheese food crap they pass off as American Cheese in the grocery store. Split the roll (Amaroso's makes the best ones!) lay in the cheese, use a spatula to scoop the steak + onions from the grill into the roll. Add condiments to taste. Mine are lettuce, tomatoes and ketchup. Oh, yeah, and it's at least 12" long. Not that silly subway 6" crap. I don't think Amaroso's even makes an itallian roll that short.

About 5 years ago I had to get a life insurance policy as a condition on a loan I was receiving... Part of that process involved a blood sample... and that revealed I had borderline high cholesterol. Me! I'm 6 feet tall and weighed about 185lbs... I had been eating fried things a lot... and a lot of processed grains... and generally not paying much attention to what I ate...

So, I started cutting back on fried stuff... and greasy stuff... ...and I started eating mostly whole grains... I wasn't crazy about it... I didn't go nuts with it... I just casually but consistently started eating more and more healthy...

As a result I have ended up with a new pallet :) My tastes have changed dramatically... I actually like food now a LOT MORE than I used to... I look forward to eating more than I ever did before...

Now when I think of fried foods and Phillies, it just doesn't sound good to me :( :( :(

A 12" Amoroso's roll with provalone and american cheese, salami, capicola, imported ham, pepperoni, lettuce, tomatoes, sliced onions, pickles and sweet or hot peppers with extra virgin olive oil and red wine vinegar and oregano sprinkled on it. Average weight is only about two pounds per sandwich.

You've apparently never been to the North End of Boston, if that's your take on it and the North End of Boston is all over my new home town!
