in 2004 the republicans ran a winning election year campaign
pledging to fight the obstructionists.

who were these obstructionists? well in 2004 republicans claimed
to have spotted dems with spines in the senate who`d filibuster.

shocking! mostly it was shocking to the dems in the senate. :icon_eek:

daschle & company insisted they were cowards. amazingly enough
this (awkward) insistance did not lead to daschle being re-elected.

fast forward >> gop win majority in the senate. and quickly make it
clear they will ignore any filibuster. sweet. majority rules baby! they
even stated the filibuster to be unconstitutional. icing on cake.

didnt the lieberman gang save the filibuster? no. he added a leash.
what was the point of adding a leash to a dead dog?? i dont know.

the filibuster went from a power any senator could exercise. to this
dead dog leash thing that no one really wanted to touch. and since
2004 thats what the filibuster has been. lets keep it that way.

the gop want to revive a dead dog, they killed.

will the dems allow this to happen? remember all the dems have to
do is ignore a filibuster. there`s nothing in the constitution (as the
gop pointed out) that requires the senate to obey a filibuster.
