NEA Supports the Following 39 Bills
Senate Bills
Quality Education for All Act (S. 15), introduced by Senator Bingaman (D-NM), would make several changes to NCLB, including ensuring that supplemental education service providers are fully covered by civil rights laws, allowing states to require supplemental service providers to only use "highly qualified" teachers, establishing a grant program to help schools increase capacity to meet the school choice provisions, clarifying "highly qualified" teacher rules for middle school teachers, and creating grants to states to develop more reliable and appropriate assessments for students with disabilities and limited-English-proficient students. It would also allow schools and school districts that failed to make Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP) for the 2002-03 school year to request a review of their AYP status. [Note: this bill is identical to H.R. 1681 by Representative Butterfield in the House]. See ([Only registered and activated users can see links]) if your Senator is a cosponsor of S. 15.
