I posted this over at the MMTF, but I thought people over here might get a kick out of it.

Ever notice how our Supreme Court justices are often not what they represent themselves to be to the Senate? Remember little Sammy Alito?

Poor, frumpy little Sammy. Who was accused of being a bigot by Lindsay Graham in his confirmation hearing, a confirmed bachelor by the way, and who then dismissed the charge as frivolous because the evidence was sitting right behind the nominee? His wife, and his daughter--proof that this man was in no way a bigot.

And his wife bursts into tears. Whoa, man. High drama zone!

Wait a minute. That's not proof of tolerance. That's just proof that he's had heterosexual sex once. Was Sammy's wife really pushed to emotional breakdown because her husband was exonerated of bigotry?

I mean, come on. Heterosexuals include a wide range of bigots amongst their numbers. And wide range of tolerant, peaceful people, too. They're pretty diverse, from what I hear. And my life experience confirms that, just like yours does for you.

Heterosexuality is no defense against an accusation of bigotry. I would have loved to have heard Sammy actually explain why he put that racist organization on his resume' when he applied for a position in the Reagan administration. Keeping minorities out of Princeton, right? I'd love even more to hear how Lindsay Graham got these two issues crossed up like that. Confirmed bachelor Lindsay Graham, by the way.

Hey, Sammy co-wrote some other stuff while he was at law school. He wrote that paper about why sodomy should be legalized, right? Well, boys in college, you know how all that goes. Did the Judiciary committee ask him if he experimented sexually with guys in college?

Hey, what if Sam Alito is actually gay?

Well, it's potentially fabulous. Let me paint the scene for you.

Sammy Alito, standing at a podium at a news conference. His wife and daughter standing behind him. Lindsay Graham in the audience. The crowd perplexed: Why would Justice Alito be calling a press conference? He clears his throat and begins to speak.

"Thank you all for coming. I just thought it was about time I come clear here. I'm a homosexual American. And I'm sitting on the Supreme Court of the United States.

"Oh, the ridiculous hoops I had to jump through to get here. I had to get married. I had to father a child. I had to go to law school and curry favors with complete psychopaths. I had to lie every day, day after day, until I almost forgot that I was doing it. Oh, did you make me work for this!

"But now it's mine.

"What are you gonna do? Impeach me? I never lied about being a homosexual American, did I? You'd be shocked to find out how many gay men are married. It's certainly not shocking to meet a gay man who is divorced, after all.

"I broke no law here. So if you're gonna impeach me, you'd have to do it because I'm gay.

"Go on. I dare you."Wouldn't that be something?
