A Democratic senator said Wednesday that Christmas tree ornaments sold at Wal-Mart Stores ([Only registered and activated users can see links]) and other major retailers were made in a Chinese sweatshop employing workers as young as 12 and others who work more than 100 hours a week.
“There is virtually no enforcement anywhere on these issues,” Senator Byron L. Dorgan ([Only registered and activated users can see links]) of North Dakota said at a news conference concerning the release of a study on Chinese sweatshops that provide cheap goods for the American market. “Our country needs to insist that our trading partners enforce their own labor laws and respect international labor standards.”
The study was conducted by the National Labor Committee, a human rights organization, and highlighted conditions at the Guangzhou Huanya Gift company, an ornament maker in China that employs 8,000 workers.

I haven't bought Christmas tree ornaments in years. I have some that are well over sixty years old that belonged to my parents. They are as beautiful today as ever. I love antique things and old Christmas ornaments are one of my favorite things. I have gone to LED lights, but they sure were not bought at WallyWorld.

Another reason to stay away from the dreaded WM. I have never even been in one.

Look at where your clothes are made, shoes, jacket, gloves, sneakers,hell- just about everything - PC'S, TV'S etc. etc. etc.

How many do any of you see made in the U.S.A. - or is it Pakistan, China, Vietnam, Mexico, Japan or other foreign lands?

Did we have a choice to throw this BS in the trash (policy) years ago? Yes we did but we chose not to because this BS above was CHEAPER to buy.

Wally World is just a tool that is used by people in this country who wear made in other country cheap labor shop BS, to smash on.

I am no big supporter of Walmart but, a lot of people depend on Walmart for their everyday needs, especially in my area.

How about the jobs Walmart creates? Could they pay more--of course - like 99% of all the big azz outfits in this country (McDonalds, Burger Chef, Lowes, Home (Desporation) Depot etc.)

Seriously Walmart is a big part of this country today and we as the consumer made it that way.

Yup, they put a lot of places out of business but thats because we the consumer let them.

Its like this - Uncle Sammy is selling a product for $20 over here-

OBL is selling the same product for $14 over there -

Where does one think the majority of sheople will go purchase this product? Called how Americans defeat America and really don't give a rats azz..

You're right, Bammo. I bought something the other day that was made in the USA and was absolutely shocked. I don't think I have an article of clothing that was made in the US, though. And I don't shop at Wal-Mart.
