Germany's interior minister called the Church of Scientology "an unconstitutional organization" and said the nation's domestic intelligence agency would move to ban the group, a report said Sunday.

Federal Interior Minister Wolfgang Schaeuble's remarks followed a unanimous decision Friday by interior ministers from Germany's 16 states to seek a ban on Scientology, accused of threatening "the peaceful democratic order" of the country.

"Scientology is an unconstitutional organization," Schaeuble was quoted as saying by the Bild am Sonntag weekly, which featured a picture of Scientology's most prominent member -- Tom Cruise -- on the front page with the headline "How dangerous is the Cruise cult?"

I thought it was already banned in Germany. I am confused...

This is a real dilemma for Germany. On one hand, they have too recent and painful of a history with mind control to tolerate a mind-control cult in their own nation. But on the other hand, they have too recent and painful of a history with state authoritiarianism to go banning religions or political parties.

Ach.

Scientology is an all consuming organization. My sister worked for a small company that got tied up in that and it nearly ruined them. They came in and told them how to run their company and the company HAD to pay them. Once they signed on with them, they had a terrible time getting out of it. It is a money racket as far as I can tell and they have far reaching tentacles. They are getting too powerful and IMHO they are quite scary. :NailBiting:

Their founder is quite a piece of work. Apparently every claim he made about himself and his abilitities has been trumped up beyond belief or totally fabricated. Personally, I'd stay light years away from these guys.

I totally agree with that ScottLee. Personally I think they are a dangerous organization.
