It's F'ed up on so many levels.

1) They are being asked to return the 'Gross' amount of their pay difference, even though their actual net, after taxes are taken out, is much lower.

So...what? They have to come up with the difference out of their own pocket? And take that money away from their families??

2) A soldier's pay is just that...a flat rate.

However, Police, Firefighters and other saleried employees also get overtime pay once in a while and many moonlight in other jobs---supplimenting their incomes to allow their families to get by.

So...taking the base differential of pay is missleading. These reservists are losing far more than their 'gross or net' incomes based on their primary jobs.

Not to mention the dangers a soldier is exposed to 24/7, time away from family, and expenses like proper body armor because the Army refuses to provide these soldiers with this minimum protection.

And they told me to 'go back to France' in New York because my Left Wing values don't 'support our troops'.

Yeah right.

Oh yeah, it is real.

I live in the NYC area and this story has been all over the news.

The city counicl is still 'debating' how to resolve the issue....they do have time before the next tax cycle.

The rub is that the soldiers are being hield accountable for the difference between the Gross and the Net pay.
