Condoleezza Rice blames black Americans for their ignorance about African issues in her upcoming interview with Essence magazine's Tatsha Robertson. "On the foreign-policy side, if African-Americans indeed care about Africa, how many African-Americans know that this President has tripled official development assistance to Africa, tripled after it was flat since Jimmy Carter?"


Within me, there is a place that considers my ancestors and their homeland with the highest of honor and esteem.

If what Rice says is true and Bush has tripled official development assistance to Africa, I know there must be some oil involved.

Here, in America, a disproportionate percentage of Black Americans, African Americans-- or whatever you want to call us--is, always has been, and probably always will be cockroach poor, neglected, and discriminated against. Now that America is importing people who are willing to die for corporate crumbs and backwash, that extremely disadvantaged segment of Black America will likely remain in a world of trouble, poverty, and exclusion.

Rice should knock it off. Ain’t nobody that stupid. In a time when America’s white middle class is being economically raped by her boy’s policies, what makes her think she can convince that left-behind segment of Black America that we should be grateful to Bush for trying to steal oil from Africa?

Tripled since Carter, eh? What percentage of increase/decrease has there been since Clinton? Suppose Clinton quadrupled support since Carter, and Bish tripled support since Carter... now Bush has cut support since Clinton.

Suppose the increase is triple, what is the amount? $100 million, $500 million? $10 billion?

Rice citing percentage increases since Carter tells me liars can figure. I want to see annual dollar amounts indexed to a specific year dollar value to compare one year to the next in constant dollars.
