with people owning guns? I've heard that there is a 50 to 1 chance that you'll shot a member of the family than shoot an intruder. Thanks.

I have only worked a handful of murders involving guns. All were either stolen or legally purchased. I have never heard of or worked an incident locally involving a accidental discharge that was fatal.

People accidentally shot themselves all the time. I know of 3 Officers in my department that have shot themselves with their own gun. Guns are dangerous and should be treated with respect. If you get careless bad things can happen.

All of my guns are either on me, in a large gun safe or in a small electronic safe beside my bed. I treat every gun as if it is loaded. You can never be to careful....

The NRA addage, "guns don't kill people, people do" is all to true. Guns are perfectly safe until you introduce humans into the equation.

All were either stolen or legally purchased.

Well, that should pretty much cover all of them.

Actually it doesn't.... There are a lot of guns out there that just do not come back to anyone. Unregistered handguns fall in this category. There is no way to identify them as stolen or legally purchased. These types of weapons were usually purchased prior to required registration or they are from another country.

Well I own guns and so do everyone that I know. I have never heard of anyone around here that has shot a member of their family or themselves. It takes common sense and care to handle a gun properly. Most people that I know have conceal and carry permits. They are not easy to get by any means. It takes months and background checks to get them. Everyone in my family has a concealed weapon permit. I never leave home without it. It just doesn't pay to anymore. The people who do not have them are the people who don't need to own guns in the first place and these people are the very reason that people around DO have permits. There has been a rash of breaking and entering here and not one suspect has been caught. They are robbing people blind when they leave home. It is just a matter of time until they get brazen enough to break in while people are home. These people don't care, they are on dope and the meth labs are everywhere here. Even in nice neighborhoods. SOOO, do you let a dopehead come in and rob and kill you? Or do you take precautions to protect yourself and your family? I prefer the latter and pray to God that it never happens.

"All guns are stolen or they're not."

That's what you said.
You're a fuckin' genius.

You are mistaken once again. Some guns fall in the undetermined category. If someone refuses to tell us where they got the gun or they say they found it, then one can neither tell if the gun is stolen or legally owned. It is merely unregistered. Sorry if you are having problems with this concept.

No need to get rude or result to profanity. My apologies for not being able to explain it any simpler for you.

Also I never stated "All guns are stolen or they're not." You are lying yet again. Please avoid responding to my posts if you are unable to be truthful. I stopped reading your posts when I was an active poster here when you started lying in the Katrina-FEMA trailer thread some time ago. I just started reading your posts again recently. It seems you may not have changed.

I don't think I have 50 family members, so I guess who I have are safe.:)
