Israeli airplanes dropped a half-ton bomb on the Hezbollah posts at a distance roughly 500 metres into the Lebanese border, reporters said.
Attacks were carried out with the purpose of preparing a limited operation targeting the tunnels and arsenals of Hezbollah and hiding grounds.
A UN observer in the region noted that there were between 300-500 Israeli soldiers in the western part of the border, supporetd by approximately 30 tanks.
Israel, which does not like the idea of a buffer zone at the border, claimed that its preparations did not signal a total occupation, but are designed to help “the deployment of Lebanese troops at he border” in an attempt to weaken the fighting power of Hezbollah.
