(AP) LOS ANGELES Unionized grocery workers rejected a proposed labor contract and authorized a strike against the major supermarket chains serving Southern California.
Workers voted to reject the contract proposed by Ralphs, Vons and Albertsons supermarket chains and approved a strike authorization against Ralphs and Vons, by an overwhelming vote of about 95 percent, the Los Angeles Times reported.
Only a two-thirds majority by participating voters was needed to authorize the strike, according to The Times.
To those who honor picket lines: once the strike begins, no shopping at Albertson's, Von's or Ralph's.
Stater Bros. is a viable option as they ratified a contract back in January. [Only registered and activated users can see links]
