As a war veteran myself, I have tried to analyse the many moves and discussions made by our very NeoCon Pentagon and it's BushCon Congress and Administration for this Iraq War. I now hope to make more contact with some troops inside Iraq that may shed some light on my own questions and share then here with DW from time to time among other veterans and members.
Does anyone know the exact status with the security of the Green Zone of Baghdad? Last I heard it was in bad shape as it has been for almost or at least a year.
It's just been reported to me by a freind who seems to know an Airborne Doc in Iraq that he himself considers much of Iraq in a civil war.

U.S.A.'s leadership seems to have been misplaced between the polls and the right suit to wear or words to say. I really believe that as a country, we will see the true price tag we as americans are paying in Iraq sooner than we think. I think that as my Bro's were dying and bleeding in Vietnam, they would of been ashamed not of the G.I.'s that were sent to Iraq but the government that sent them there based on lies. Who will pay for this mistake in Iraq? We will pay and our children and grandchildren, and their children - for another senseless war, this time the "SHRUB" fiasco in Iraq.
When will we as Americans ever learn from our past mistakes like Vietnam? Or are we to damn busy with our own interests and it don't effect me attitudes - to care about what is happening with our country and its future?
Time to wake the hell up america, before it is to damn late - which is not far away!

Veterans speak out against Iraq war
Bus tour makes stop in Middleton
By Christopher Michaels
Correspondent for The Capital Times
MIDDLETON - Painted in red, white and blue and festooned with rallying signs for peace, a tour bus on a mission made a whistle-stop at the Middleton Public Library Wednesday to rally support for returning U.S. troops from Iraq and push for the impeachment of President Bush.
The bus stop was part of a coast-to-coast tour undertaken by Veterans for Peace to facilitate "bring the troops home" referendums and impeachment resolutions.
Veterans for Peace members outlined how citizens can stay involved in promoting anti-war referendums and advance the cause for impeaching Bush and other high-ranking federal officials. They also recognized local organizers who will present a petition to the Middleton city clerk next week asking that a troops-home referendum be put on the ballot in November.
"I am here for action. You are taking action in your community. It's a resolution and we hope it becomes a revolution," said Buzz Davis, a former Army officer and Veterans for Peace organizer, who drove to the rally from Stoughton.
Steven Mortillo, a First Division infantryman who served in Iraq, has been riding the bus as a member of an Iraq veterans group against the war. He said the apathy of many Americans toward the war is shameful.
"Three of my friends got killed. Twelve of my unit got killed. They have lives. They have stories. You start to ask the question why and no one wants to listen to you," he said to the crowd of about 25 Iraq and Vietnam vets, bus tour participants and local citizens.
Mortillo said it can help veterans for Americans to talk about what's happening and to actively support them.
"It's so refreshing to see Americans that truly support the troops and want to see them home. All the guys in the military will probably thank you a lot," he said.
Middleton Mayor and Vietnam vet Doug Zwank compared the war in Iraq to that of the Vietnam War, with no objectives, progress or end in sight for U.S. involvement. The fact the U.S. has lost more than 2,500 troops in the fighting is not justification to keep the war going, he said.
"We'll never be successful in establishing (the Iraqi) government. They have to establish their government. I think it's time we stand up to the president and put forth the effort to bring (the troops) home," Zwank said.
Pat Tate, a Veterans for Peace chapter president from California, said it's not cowardly or "cutting and running" for the U.S. to leave Iraq now. Davis agreed.
"This war has turned into a civil war. We have to face the music. It's time to get out," he said.
Davis said the Wisconsin Impeachment/Bring Our Troops Home Coalition, working with Veterans for Peace, hopes to organize an impeachment referendum for the spring 2007 ballot in Dane County and possibly other counties. The coalition says the Bush administration is guilty of attacking other nations without provocation, torturing prisoners and illegally wiretapping private communications.
"(President Bush) would have made a good mayor in some small town. But he certainly doesn't have what it takes to lead the country in these times," Zwank said.
Earlier in the day, the tour stopped in Pittsville, Wisconsin Rapids and Lake Delton. It is scheduled to visit Watertown, South Milwaukee and Racine today before leaving the state and moving east.
The national bus tour began in Seattle earlier this month and intends to arrive in Washington, D.C., on Tuesday.

Nice post bro.
Here's how I see it bro. We have obviously witnessed and experienced ourselves in just our lifetime decades of arranged debacles based on the lies of both Vietnam and Iraq. It's obvious that our leaders don't want to avoid such 'mistakes' but to create such mistakes. Why? Control for profits. It's clear as a bell to me. Where in our history bro that govts actually try to make peace... real peace? They do it through violence... and while they do they collect a nice bounty for themselves. Yeah, even the church gets behind that action too. Beaucoup money is diverted into the action. Nice business....wouldn't you say?

I hear ya' Bro' --for sure. There are no winners in war except the profiteers and in this "SHRUB" fiasco, there are beaucoup profiteers to be had.
What breeds hatred toward the U.S.A. ? Like Vietnam , we try to impose our ways and culture on people that resist them. Sure some vietnamese and Iraqi alike make money from the U.S. presence, but on a whole Bro' - Joe average citizen of Vietnam and Iraq is in a no win situation.
They give information to the U.S. they are targets of the people (I do not use insurgent or terroist, leave those for the SHRUB suckers) who oppose U.S. invasion and occupation. Not only them but their families and Vills.
On the other hand like the Nam, they side with the opposition they are sympathizers and we kick the shit out of them, torture them, and grease them, burn their Vill and most likely teach everyone involved a lesson.
Now we got the ARVN'S --Iraqi forces - they want to put on a show for the U.S. so they are most likely harder like the Arvns were on Sympathizers (their own)- even though at night or whatever they are the opposition or plants. See the simularities? LOL Iraqnam --for sure.
Its a no brainer and we know SHRUB does not own much grey matter. And its a no winner, but it is a winner for the war profiteers and SHRUB - raking in the tax payer piaster $$$$ - in a huge way. So SHRUB says, like Vietnam when the economy was strong - keep this SOB going, lie, cheat steal, but keep it going. Why--profits and power. And why does the so called church back these so called christians to do such acts? Nice donation every Sunday and a few more for their loyalty.
