This good news brought to you by tireless activists who refuse to be silenced:

Pharmacies in Illinois will soon have to post signs telling women that it's their right to purchase contraceptives and how to file a complaint if their prescriptions are refused. Gov. Rod Blagojevich proposed the rule to back up his earlier executive order protecting access to emergency contraception.
New Jersey Gov. Jon Corzine, in a challenging fiscal environment, just added $2 million to the state family planning budget. That's a huge increase for one state ? one that will allow Planned Parenthood to see thousands more patients.
The Missouri Supreme Court delivered a preliminary ruling that Planned Parenthood affiliates were not required to return almost $1 million in state family planning funds that Planned Parenthood used to provide family planning services to poor and uninsured women in 1999 and 2003.Source: Planned Parenthood email (23 August 2006)

Just got this in email:
---------------
We did it!
At 9:20 a.m. today, the FDA approved over-the-counter access to the "morning-after" pill!
Dear Koy,

Thanks to the letters, petitions, and support from people like you, the FDA finally overcame the political pressure from the White House, Congress, and anti-choice lobbyists, and approved the morning-after pill for over-the-counter sales.

Medical experts and scientists at the FDA have asserted for years that the morning-after pill - which can prevent an unintended pregnancy if taken within 72 hours after sex - should be available without a prescription. It's safe, it's effective, and it's a commonsense way for women to prevent unintended pregnancy.

Thank you again for helping achieve this victory for women - your action does make a difference.
My best,

Isn't it great? We're finally making some progress! :a075::party0007[1]:

Now, we must follow in the UK's footsteps and make all oral contraception free.

Ha! Why stop there? Let's follow in the footsteps of other industrialized nations and provide free healthcare!! Hell, I'd be willing to do it gradually....start with the kids. Everyone under the age of 18 - free healthcare. Then move on up to the seniors - everyone over the age of 60. Then the whole ball 'o wax...everybody - free healthcare! :c015:

:)

That why I love you so much.... you always have hope!

My new medications came to a total of 215.00 for a month's supply. If I didn't have the public assistance that I do, I wouldn't have any medicine.

I can only imagine how many people are sick for this reason alone.

This IS good news! Thank you so much for it! Do you have a link for all this news or is it just an Email thing? I would like to share it with some other prochoice people I talk to online.

Oh no! *gasps* What a horrible plan! heh heh. But yes I like it. John Kerry has already been working on that since he "lost" the 2004 election. Check out his Kids First plan!

I have to have surgery for my wisdom teeth (yes I'm twenty-four and still have them for now) and it's like over $500. Luckily my dad is paying for it and he has a good job. I would probably be in a bad situation if he didn't have his job and I'm just a college student right now (I'll hopefully be done by next fall). :icon_sad: I could have health insurance I believe but I have to be a full time student and I'm hoping to get a part-time job so I didn't want too much on my plate since I've never done school and a job at the same time before.
