Those interested in the depiction of disabilities on television, as well as the lives of special-needs families, should catch up with "Little People, Big World ([Only registered and activated users can see links])" on TLC, if you haven't already.
The half-hour episodes, shown in blocks of two on Saturday nights on the cable learning channel, visit ([Only registered and activated users can see links]) the Roloffs ([Only registered and activated users can see links]):
Parents Matt & Amy, who are both 4'1" tall;
15-year-old twins Zach, a little person,
& Jeremy, who's average-sized; &
average-sized siblings Molly, 12, &
Jacob, 8.
The show documents their struggles to deal with their disabilities, society's attitudes, and the normal stresses of raising children and holding jobs and handling family dynamics. This Saturday, you can catch episodes 9 and 10, which deal with the growing differences between the twins as they grapple with adolescent issues from their alternate realities.
To get a sense of the series, there are a number of videos available on the TLC site, including a trailer (that made me tear up) and interviews with the family members....
