Ugh. I hate talking. Writing is my schtick.

The anxiety of it all! Egads! I about had a stroke waiting for the chance to talk. My fingers felt like ice, my toes are likewise frozen, and I'm still shaking about it all. How do people do this?!?

Anyway, Peter B. is talking about Obama tonite and I wanted to get a couple of ideas out there--particularly on the gay marriage/equality discussion. I'm glad to say that he's filling in the gaps I left on the topic, but geez! Anxiety attack, anyone?

What's the best way to do this? Do people outline their points they wanna make on paper before they call or something?

((shudder)). I hope I didn't come across as a complete whacko. :(

Congratulations! I'm sure you sounded great. Sorry I missed it. If you find an archive of it do post, k?

I've never tried writing an outline, but that's a great idea.

Actually, I've never run across a Peter B Collins archive. If anyone has, I'd like to know about it.

Hey Ben?!?! You got a solution for us?

Ugh. I'm still shaking. Some warrior, huh?

As a former radio announcer...write down the basic points you want to make...

Only the things you absolutely do NOT want to forget.
keep it simple and fairly short.
don't forget to breathe.
speak clearly and don't rush.
talk like you talk to your best friend. (if you have to...talk to a picture of them)

above all...do NOT be listening to yourself as you are trying to speak. turn the radio off or mute it. there's usually a slight delay due to satellite transmission bounce and most people have a built-in delay for call-in shows to bleep profanity. That little bit of delay can give an echo effect and throw you way off and make you actually forget what you were saying...just talk on the phone like you are chatting with a good friend.
